Dark clouds loom even as we celebrate Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. We want the joy to last and last, yet know the euphoria of one moment or day or week can turn suddenly to sadness. We may even be cautious celebrators lest we feel too good only to be let down by a sudden change of events. So many messages unfold during this Holy Week. The illustration of servanthood as Jesus washes the disciples' feet and the special moment of sharing bread and wine. The time of prayer in the Garden. The reaction of frightened disciples (yes, even those who witnessed the transfiguration flee). The sheer awfulness of crucifixion. Yet, in the midst of the execution of our Savior, Redeemer, Messiah, Good Shepherd, ... are the signs of hope and promise.
